DAILY INCIDENTS FOR WEDNESDAY, JULY 18, 2007

CAR STOP IN DORCHESTER LEADS TO BIGGER BUSTAt about 5:32pm, on Wednesday, July 17, 2007, officers from Area C-11 (Dorchester) observed a motor vehicle fail to make a right turn from a right turn only lane at the intersection of Granite Avenue and Hill Top Street. As a result, officers then activated their emergency equipment (lights & sirens) and stopped the car. When officers asked the operator for his license, the operator stated that he only had a learner’s permit. Since there was no licensed person in the car, the operator was, in essence, operating without a license. As a result, officers arrested Kewon Kelley, 20, of Lawrence, and charged him with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Being Licensed. As a result of the arrest, officers towed the violator’s motor vehicle. Before towing the car, for inventory purposes, officers conducted a search of the motor vehicle. Per the search, officers discovered a number of bags filled with various merchandise in the rear seat of the car, as well as inside the trunk. The merchandise, primarily clothing, had store inventory control tags (a small anti-theft device) and price tags still attached to it. Believing the merchandise to be stolen, officers arrested Robert Sleeper, 19, of Methuen, Jonelle Anderson, 23, of Lawrence, and Rosanna Fernandez, 27, of Haverhill, and charged all three with Receiving Stolen Goods. Upon returning to the station, officers called the store where the merchandise appeared to be taken from and received confirmation that the merchandise had, in fact, been stolen.
ONE LESS GUN IN THE SOUTH END
At about 12:19am, on Tuesday, July 17, 2007, officers from Area D-4 (South End) observed in the area of 678 Tremont Street an individual wanted for questioning with regard to an earlier incident. When the suspect observed the officers, the suspect immediately fled. As the suspect was running away, officers observed him reaching at his waist area as if he were attempting to hide a weapon. Officers then observed the suspect drop an item, pick it up and, then, throw it over a fence. Officers then searched the area on the other side of the fence and recovered a black firearm. Officers arrested Breny Guevara, 22, of Dorchester, and charged him with the Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition.

At about 12:36am, on Wednesday, July 18, 2007, officers from Area E-13 (Jamaica Plain) responded to a radio call for an armed robbery in the area of 277 Centre Street. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who stated that he had just been robbed by four individuals: three black males, all wearing white t-shirts and one Hispanic male, wearing a striped t-shirt.
