Walking Beat Officers Capture Suspects After RobberyYesterday around 5:45pm, officers from District C-11 walking the beat in the area of Bowdoin Street received a radio call for an assault and battery in progress. According to one of the victim’s they were in the area of 252 Bowdoin Street, when the two suspects walked up to him and punched him on the side of his head and robbed the victim of his IPOD, baseball cap, cell phone and cash.
At that time the second victim was also punched in the head. The third victim engaged the two suspects in a verbal attempt to stop the assault. The third victim was also assaulted before the two suspects fled onto Hamilton Street towards Columbia Road. Officers broadcasted a description of the suspects. The suspect’s were described as, a black male wearing a black and blue Magic basketball jersey and the second suspect was a black male wearing a beige shirt and blue jeans.
Officers observed the two suspects matching the description at the intersection of Hamilton and Coleman Streets with several other individuals. Offices observed one of the suspects standing over a sewer grate at the intersection of Hamilton Street and Coleman Street attempting to stuff a white object with a black cover into the drain. Officers notified Boston Water and Sewer who responded and assisted the officers with retrieving the victim IPOD.
The victim’s positively identified the suspect. Scott Brown, 19, of Fall River and Trey Deberry 20, of Roxbury were arrested and charged with Armed Robbery. Officers were able to recover items taken from the victim.
Business Robbed at Gunpoint
This morning around 2:37am, officers from District D-4 responded to a radio call for an armed robbery at 220 Huntington Avenue. On arrival, officers spoke with victim who stated that they were just robbed. The victim stated that suspect walked into the lobby of the hotel with a gun drawn and ordered the victim into a back room. The suspect them took cash from both registers and fled in an unknown direction. The victim was unable to identify the suspect due to a bandana or cloth covering his face. The suspect fled with an undetermined amount of cash.
Motor Vehicle Accident at 400 Dudley Street
This morning at 3:40am, officers from District B-2 were on patrol on Blue Hill Avenue observed a vehicle operating at high rate of speed. Officers activated lights and sirens in an attempt to perform a traffic stop. The vehicle came to a sudden stop at the corner of Blue Hill Avenue and West Cottage Street. At this time, the vehicle accelerated and fled. Officers continued to follow the vehicle onto Dudley Street where the vehicle failed to stop for a red light. Officers were informed to discontinue following the vehicle. Officers immediately discontinued and lost sight of the vehicle as it turned onto Blue Hill Avenue.
Moments later, officers on-sighted a motor accident at 400 Dudley Street. The officer stated he was stopped at a red light at Blue Hill Avenue and Dudley Street when he observed vehicle travel onto the wrong side of the street, losing control and drove over the fence in the church yard and collided with the statue of St. Patrick. Officers observed damage to the fence and the statue.
Both suspects were transported to Boston Medical Center and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The operator will be summonsed into court and charged with Motor Vehicle Violations.
