Sharon Fitzpatrick Surrenders Herself To PoliceEarly this morning, Sharon Fitzpatrick, 35, of Dorchester, surrendered herself to police in connection to the weekend stabbing death of Sylvester Mitchell, 40, of Dorchester.
On Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 4:36am, officers from District 3 (Mattapan) responded to a radio call for a person stabbed at 52 Evans Street. On arrival, officers located a male suffering from multiple stab wounds, the result of a domestic violence assault. The victim was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim was identified as Mr. Mitchell.
As a result of the investigation conducted by Boston Police Homicide detectives, investigators identified Ms. Fitzpatrick as the suspect. Homicide detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant from Dorchester District Court charging Mrs. Fitzpatrick with murder.
Sharon Fitzpatrick is a civilian employee of the Boston Police Department. She has been a 911 call taker for almost two years. The department has placed Mrs. Fitzpatrick on administrative leave.
Fitzpatrick’s arraignment is expected to occur at Dorchester District Court some time early afternoon.
