DAILY INCIDENTS FOR APRIL 12, 2007

Car Thief Arrested Sleeping at the WheelYesterday morning around 10:50am, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) on patrol observed a parked car in the travel lane on Pleasant Street with its engine running. Officers stopped and queried the registration, and learned that the car had been reported stolen. Officers approached the car and observed someone sleeping in the car, and further noted that the ignition had been damaged. The sleeping suspect, Joseph Pano, 33, of South Boston was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle. During the booking search, the suspect was found to be in possession of a stolen Social Security check and subsequently charged with Receiving Stolen Property Over $250.
Juvenile Arrested for Assault by Means of Firearm
At approximately 10:52am on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, an officer from District 2 (Roxbury) performing a detail at the intersection of Columbia Rd. and Dudley St. was approached by a victim who reported that he was just threatened at gunpoint by two males. The victim reported that he was attempting to remove a seat from a bicycle that was in the trash in front of 14 Sayward St. when two young males approached him, berated him and then threatened to shoot him while brandishing a firearm.
The description of the two suspects was broadcast as additional units responded to the location of the assault, and found two individuals matching the suspects’ descriptions. The suspects were detained and one positively identified by the victim as the one who assaulted him at gunpoint. A 15 year-old male from Dorchester was arrested and charged with Assault By Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
Male Suspect Arrested for Soliciting an Officer
This morning at 2:04am, officers from District 1 (Downtown Boston) arrested suspect, Marvin Mejia, 27, of Brockton and charged him with Prostitution/Soliciting Sex for a Fee and Possession of Class B.
Officers were in the area of Stuart St. and Tremont St. in an unmarked car when they were flagged down by the suspect who was seated in a car. The suspect asked the officer if he was “looking” and when asked for what the suspect responded for sex. Officers then asked the suspect if he was offering sex at which point the suspect exited his car and stated that he was, and the cost was for $10.The suspect was arrested and subsequently determined to be in possession of a Class B substance.
Man Arrested in Stolen Car After Car Accident
Officers from District 4 (South End) this morning around 3:21am responded to the intersection of Camden St. and Tremont St. for a motor vehicle accident. On arrival, officers were met by the victim who gave officers a description of the suspect who had fled the scene after hitting the car. Officers searched the area and shortly thereafter located an individual matching the suspect description. The suspect was positively identified by the victim, and placed under arrest.
After being placed under arrest, the suspect was observed to have all the indications of being under the influence, and formed the opinion that the suspect was under the influence of intoxicating liquors. The suspect was then determined to have a suspended license and charged accordingly.
The suspect, Charles Smith, 48, of Boston was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle, Operating Under the Influence, Operating a Motor Vehicle After License Suspension and Leaving the Scene of an Accident with Property Damage.
