DAILY INCIDENTS FOR MARCH 17, 2007

STEALING CHECKS IS BAD BUSINESS
At about 8:47am, on Friday, March 16, 2007, officers from District C-6 (South Boston) responded to a radio call for a man trying to cash a stolen check at the Bank of America at 460 West Broadway. On arrival, officers spoke to bank officials who stated the check in question was stolen. In fact, prior to the officers’ arrival, bank officials had already spoken (by telephone) to the owner of the check in question. During that conversation, the check owner confirmed that his checks had been stolen. Moreover, he also told bank officials that he had never written a check to the man attempting to cash it. Armed with this knowledge, officers then arrested Thomas Digaetano, 44, of South Boston and charged him with Forging and Uttering a False Check.
SHOULD’VE STAYED IN THE CAR
At about 6:40pm, on Friday, March 16, 2007, members of the Area A Neighborhood Drug Unit (East Boston) were driving their unmarked cruiser in East Boston when they were forced to abruptly stop their car after being cut off by another motor vehicle. After cutting in front of the unmarked cruiser, the operator of the other motor vehicle then began yelling at the officers. According to the officers, the suspect in this situation began yelling, ”What the (expletive) are you doing .. you (double expletive).” Since the officers were en route to a drug investigation, they asked the suspect to simply move his car. However, instead of moving his motor vehicle, the suspect instead jumped out of it and yelled, “Oh yeah .. mother (expletive).” At this point, the officers began to exit their unmarked cruiser. As they were doing so, the suspect reached into his car and pulled out what appeared to be a wooden club. The suspect then raised the club in a threatening manner and began walking towards the officers. At this point, the officers identified themselves as Boston Police Officers. To which the suspect replied, \”Oh (expletive).” Officers then arrested Domenic Screnci, 27, of East Boston and charged him with Assault By Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
JUDGEMENT IMPAIRED
At about 12:50am, on Saturday, March 17, 2007, officers from District D-14 (Brighton), while patrolling South Street in Brighton, observed a group of kids standing in the middle of the street forcing approaching cars to slow and stop as they attempted to maneuver around the crowd. As officers approached the group in their cruiser, officers observed one individual drinking from a plastic cup. As officers pulled up to that individual, she continued to sip from her cup. When officers warned her that drinking in public was an arrestable offense, the individual in question began yelling at the officers. Suspect was arrested and charged with Drinking in Public.
