Driver Arrested with Two Rifles After Assaulting Two PedestriansAt approximately 4:51pm yesterday, officers from District 2 responded to 301 Warren St. in Roxbury for a person with a gun. While en route, officers were updated with a description of the suspect and his motor vehicle. On scene, officers observed the motor vehicle but not the suspect. Officers approached the motor vehicle and observed in “plain view” inside the car what appeared to be the muzzle and butt end of two rifles wrapped in a towel. While officers were on scene they observed an individual matching the suspect description walking out of nearby store. That individual was stopped and subsequently found to be in possession of the keys to the car with the rifles. Officers then spoke to the victims who reported that the suspect pointed a rifle at them after they exchanged some words when they crossed in front of his car while he was driving. The suspect, Jannoris T. Hayes, 24, of Roxbury was arrested and charged with 2 counts of Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Dangerous Weapon Unlawfully Carried after being positively identified by the victims.
“Operation Squeeze” Nets Five Suspects for Sex for a Fee
Late last night into the early morning hours of today, officers from District 2 arrested five individuals and charged them with Prostitution/Sex for a Fee. Officers, in an ongoing effort, to rid the neighborhood of street prostitution and improve the quality of life for residents conducted Operation Squeeze. During that operation, officers first arrested Tracy Boyd, 39, of Roxbury for Sex for a Fee when she approached an officer in an unmarked car and offered sexual favors in exchange for money. Officers then went on to arrest Jose Galeano, 27, of Roxbury, Glen Wilder, 38, of Roxbury, Lawrence P. Reynolds, 43, of Milton, and Carl M. Burrell, 24, of Canton after they solicited a female officer for sex in exchange for money. The suspects will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on Monday, February 12, 2007.
Driver Carjacked by Two Suspects
This morning around 7:30am, officers from District 4, responded to 90 Boylston in Boston for a carjacking. On arrival, officers spoke to the victim who reported that, earlier this morning around 4:30am, he was carjacked. The victim reported that he was stopped at the traffic light at Arlington St. and St. James St. when two suspects approached him, opened his car door and motioned as if armed with a gun. The victim reported that the suspects got in his car and forced him over on the seat. According to the victim, the suspects drove around with him in the car until they arrived at the Mobil Gas Station at the corner of Berkeley St. There, the suspects demanded money of the victim but when they were told that he had no money, the victim was ordered out of the car and the suspects fled.
Suspect Arrested with a Firearm During Traffic Stop
About 4:10am this morning, officers from District 3 conducted a traffic stop at Blue Hill Ave. and Johnson Rd. after they observed a motor vehicle fail to stop for the red light. Officers were assaulted with the smell of marijuana upon approaching the motor vehicle to get the driver’s information. While talking to the driver of the offending motor vehicle, an assisting officer observed through the rear side window a firearm on the floor of the middle row seats where two passengers were seated. The passengers were ordered out of the car for officer safety and to remove the firearm. One of the passengers admitted to ownership of the gun upon being ordered out of the car. Officers arrested the driver, Maurice Works, 25, of Dorchester and charged him with Operating a Motor Vehicle after Revocation and a 15-year-old juvenile from Mattapan charging him with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession of a Loaded Firearm.
