UPDATE TO DEWEY STREET DEATH INVESTIGATION

On January 24, 2007, at about 12:43 pm, a Boston Police officer responded to 91 Thornton Street for a missing person report. Investigators met with the family of Warren Daniel Hairston, who reported him missing and were concerned about the circumstances. A missing person investigation was then initiated. Boston Police detectives have been aggressively investigating the facts and circumstances surrounding Mr. Hairston’s disappearance and are actively attempting to determine his whereabouts. (Refer to Missing Persons information posted to bpdnews.com yesterday.) On January 27, 2007, at approximately 1:08pm, officers in District 2 responded to a radio call for a found body at 57 Dewey Street. On arrival, officers located a black male in his early 20’s suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced at the scene.
Based upon descriptive data and similarities between the missing person and today’s victim, investigators made contact with Mr. Hairston’s family. At this time, detectives are not able to rule out the possibility that the body discovered today is that of Mr. Hairston. However, a formal identification has not been determined at this point.
Detectives are asking for the public’s help and urge anyone with information about this incident to contact them at 617-343-4470 or to remain anonymous by calling the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS. The Boston Police will protect the identity of those who wish to remain anonymous.
