On Wednesday night at bout 10:11pm officers assigned to the Boston Police Youth Violence Unit were patrolling in the area of Holworthy and Walnut Streets when they observed a motor vehicle at which time they attempted to stop for violations of the auto laws. The vehicle refused to stop for the officers and was pursued to 24 Heath Street where an occupant from the car fled on foot.An officer engaged in a foot chase when the suspect pointed a firearm at the officer. Due to the imminent danger to the officer, the officer discharged multiple rounds from his firearm at the suspect and believed to have struck him. The suspect continued to flee inside an address located Parker Street. Boston officers entered the dwelling, conducted a protective sweep, and were unable to locate the suspect inside the apartment.
Investigators later arrested a suspect who self applied himself to Brigham and Woman’s Hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds to the arm and hip. One Boston police officer has been transported to a local hospital where he is being evaluated.
The two occupants of the motor vehicle who stopped for police have been placed under arrest unrelated to the shooting. They are identified as Lamory Gray, 20, of Dorchester and Luis Garcia, 20 of Mission Hill. Both will be arraigned in the Roxbury District Court later today.
Police have locations secured and the incident remains under investigation by the BPD Firearm Discharge Team in cooperation with the District Attorney’s Office.
