Man Arrested After Stealing an EMT’s BicycleYesterday around 12:05pm, officers in District 4 responded to a radio call for a larceny of a bike in Copley Square. Officers spoke with witness who stated there was a large contingent of EMTs in Copley square, many of them of bicycles, to provide medical assistance to the participants of the Jimmy Fund Walk. EMTs had their bikes parked on the sidewalk when he observed the suspect jump on a bike and pedal away. The witness and EMTs gave chase and apprehended the suspect at Clarendon and St James Street. Paul Bedard, 53, of Boston was arrested and charged with Larceny of Bicycle over $250.
Two Suspects Nabbed in Breaking and Entering
While on patrol this morning around 1:30am, officers in District 13 heard a loud noise that sounded like glass breaking. Officer arrived at 12 Bickford Street and could still hear glass breaking. Officers went around the building and observed one suspect with a hammer breaking a side window and another suspect standing watching. Officers arrested James Taylor, 37, of Roxbury charging him with Attempted Breaking and Entering and Destruction of Property. Also arrested was Kenneth Wigham, 43, of Jamaica Plain for Breaking and Entering, Possession of Burglarious Tools and Destruction of Property. Officers recovered a box cutter and a hammer from the suspects.
Shots Fired Ends in Arrest
Early this morning around 2:20am, while on a fixed a post at 683 Morton street officers in District 3 heard one shot fired at the Mobil Gas Station at Morton Street and Blue Hill Avenue. On arrival officers observed a very large group gathering in the gas station and heard four to five more shots fired and observed a motor vehicle leave the scene at a high rate of speed. Officers stopped the vehicle an arrested Winston McGhee, 22, of Boston charging him with Unlawful Possession of Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Discharging Firearm within 500FT of Dwelling.
Suspect Nabbed in Second Breaking and Entering
Early this morning around 2:45am, officers in District 4 responded to 65 Hemenway Street for a breaking and entering in progress. On arrival officers spoke with a victim who stated she was sleeping and woke up to a noise and observed an unknown male in her room staring down at her while she was in bed. The suspect fled the apartment and the victim gave officers a description of the suspect. A second victim found a side window open in the kitchen with the outer screen missing. As officers were speaking with the two victims another person over heard the commotion and summoned the police to her apartment. A third victim reported to police that she was awakened by a noise at her window and observed the outer screen to window being removed. This victim reported that her window was locked and no entry was gained.
While officers were searching the area for the suspect another call came in around 3:20am for a breaking and entering at 51 Hemenway Street. Officers responded to the scene and the victim gave a description of the suspect. Officers searched the area and found the suspect hiding in the rear of 53 Hemenway Street. Hector Santiago, 41, of Boston was arrested and charged with Unarmed Breaking and Entering and Receiving or Concealing Stolen Goods. The suspect was positively identified as the person who committed both incidents. Officers recovered several items from the suspect that was reported stolen from the victim’s apartment.
