GOT WHEELS?OVER 100 CITY STUDENTS REWARDED WITH NEW
BICYCLES FOR PERFECT ATTENDANCE
WHO: Boston Police Superintendent in Chief Albert E. Goslin; Boston Police Activities League Director Bill Stoddard; Members of the Boston Police Command Staff and the Tactical Bicycle Unit; Boston Police Athletic League Board Members; over 100 3rd – 5th grade students and their proud parents and guardians
WHAT: As a reward for outstanding academic achievement, over 100 Boston Public School students will receive new bicycles and helmets. The Boston Police Athletic League (PAL) funded this initiative as a way of congratulating the students for their 100% attendance record. Youth Service Officers’ from each of the 11 police districts have worked closely with each of these dedicated pupils since the beginning of the school year.
Today the students will come to police headquarters and pick up their new ride accessorized with a new safety helmet. They will then participate in a “bike rodeo” behind police headquarters and receive valuable safety tips from the officers of the Tactical Bicycle Unit.

INFO: The Police Athletic League is a strong, local organization with the resource and credibility to bring focus and attention to the youth development field and to connect young people in low-crime neighborhoods with responsible adults in school and during their out-of-school time. The overall goal of PAL’s programming is to involve youth in meaningful activities that will counter some of the negative forces in their lives and give them greater opportunities for future success. PAL strengthens the relationship between police officers and youth in the neighborhoods of Boston by providing opportunities for them to participate together in recreational, cultural, social and educational activities.
