“Aim For Peace” Exceeding Expectations, Need For Funding Increases

Mayor Menino, The Boston Police Department and our Buyback Community Partners wish to extend our gratitude to the City of Boston Credit Union for their generous donation of $5,000.00. The continued support of charitable donors is crucial to the ultimate success of this program. As of today, the program has collected more than 250 firearms and that number continues to grow.Businesses or individuals wishing to support the program and take a gun off the street can send contributions to:

Today the City of Boston Credit Union released:
City of Boston Credit Union Joins Aim For Peace
City of Boston Credit Union takes a stand against gun violence by becoming a Community Partner in the City of Boston’s “Aim For Peace” Campaign. The Credit Union has donated $5,000.00 to support the efforts of the 2006 Boston Gun Buyback program.
The City of Boston established “Aim For Peace” in hopes of silencing gun violence in the city. The program offers members of the community the opportunity to anonymously turn in weapons with “no questions asked.” In exchange for the weapon the individual will receive a $200 Target Gift Card. In order for “Aim For Peace” to continue to be a success, funds needed to be replenished to purchase the $200 Target Gift Cards. Recognizing the importance of this program to help curb youth violence in the City of Boston, the Directors of City of Boston Credit Union voted to become a Community Partner. President and Chairman of the Board, Thomas Tinlin, states, “it is with pleasure that the Credit Union partners with “Aim For Peace”. We consider this a great opportunity to play a part in the positive impact the program will have on the City of Boston.”

    Who’s to say that people who trade in a gun and receive a $200 Target gift card won’t turn around and trade the gift card in for another gun?
