This morning at 8:36am, officers from District 3 responded to a report of an armed robbery at Wales and Harvard Streets in Dorchester. On arrival officers spoke with a 42-year-old Boston man who stated that he was robbed, at gunpoint, of jewelry by a male and two females. While the officers were interviewing the victim, he observed one of the females leaving 37 Wales Street. Police arrested Elizabeth Splaine, 22, of Cambridge and charged her with armed robbery. While officers were arresting Splaine, the victim observed the second female enter 37 Wales Street. Additional officers responded and approached the address knocked and announced their office. The second female suspect fled the apartment stating the male suspect still inside armed with a firearm threatened to kill her. Police arrested Mahogany Penn, 23, of Hyde Park and charged her with armed robbery.Police on scene requested Boston Police negotiators to the scene. The negotiators attempted to contact the suspect to no avail for over two hours. The Boston Police Entry and Apprehension Team responded and deployed O.C. spray into the apartment. The male suspect, Darrell Smith, 39, of Dorchester, was taken into custody without incident. He is charged with armed robbery and assault by means of a firearm. Detectives from District 3 applied for a search warrant and are currently executing it.
All three will be arraigned tomorrow morning in the Dorchester District Court.
