Update to Morton Street Death Investigation

On Sunday April 30, 2006, at 6:21am officers from District 2 responded to a radio call for a body found at 170 Morton Street in Jamaica Plain. On arrival Boston Police discovered the burnt body of a teenage, black female. The victim has been identified as 19 year-old, Boston resident Dominique Samuels, formerly of Milton.The Boston Police, led by the Homicide Unit and in cooperation with the District Attorney’s office, is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death and discovery of the victim. The area where Ms. Samuels was found is accessible by foot and by car. The BPD has not ruled out the possibility that she may have been brought there from another location.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has yet to determine the manner and cause of death. However evidence suggests that an accelerant was used during this incident.
Investigators are urging anyone who may have seen or spoken to Ms. Samuels on either Friday or Saturday to please come forward. In addition, if anyone was witness to any suspicious activity in and around Franklin Park specifically the area adjacent to Jewish Memorial Drive and/or if anyone observed or was present to someone purchasing an accelerant in the area to please contact the Boston Police Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470 or remain anonymous and contact the CrimeStoppers Unit at 800-494-TIPS.
