Officer Jumps Into Pick-up to Avoid Being StruckAt 2:10 this morning officers in District 1 observed a Black Dodge Pick-up truck hit another vehicle at Stuart and Tremont Streets and attempt to leave the scene. Officers chased the suspect truck on foot ordering the driver to stop. The driver refused to obey the lawful commands of the officers and swerved his truck towards one of the officers, nearly crushing the officer between the pick-up and a parked car. The officer jumped into the rear bed of the suspect pick-up truck to avoid being crushed and again ordered the suspect to stop the vehicle. With the officer still in the rear of the truck, the suspect continued on Stuart Street and came to a stop just before Charles Street South. The suspect was removed from the truck and arrested. Arraignment will be in Boston Municipal Court on Monday.
Shootings leave Pair with Non-Life Threatening Injuries
At 10:14pm last night officers in District 11 responded to The Boston Bowl on Morrissey Boulevard for a person shot. A 21-year-old male told officers he was shot as he walked out of the building. He was taken to an area hospital for a non-life threatening injury to his left leg. Earlier at about 8:26pm, officers in District 3 responded to a person shot at 56 Rexford Street in Mattapan. A 17-year-old male was found with an apparent gunshot wound to the back. He was taken to an area hospital for a non-life threatening injury. Both incidents remain under investigation.
Gun Found in Dorchester Garage
Officers in District 3 responded to 55 Lithgow Street on a report of a found gun. Officers were directed to a detached garage and were told that a gun was found inside while the owner of the property was cleaning. An unloaded 40 caliber was found wrapped in a t-shirt. The gun was turned over to the Ballistics Unit for testing.
Five Arrested, Gun Recovered in Boston Common
Municipal Police Officers and Boston Police responded to the Boston Common yesterday at around 6:00pm on a report of a gang behind the Ranger station drinking. Officers arrived and observed about fifteen youths behind the ranger station. As the officers approached, one of the men grabbed his waist and ran. Officers gave chase and back up was called as the group became uncooperative with the officers. The suspect that fled on foot was observed discarding a firearm near the Frog Pond and was caught by police in the area of Chestnut Street and David Mugar Way. A loaded gun was recovered in the grass near the pond. Carlos Allen, 18, was arrested and charged with the illegal possession of the gun. Also arrested were: Kalvin Allen, 18, Ramon Egleston, 22, Rhydell Wright, 19, and Wilkens Bellebranche, 23, all of Dorchester.
Would Be Attacker Bit by Pit Bull
Officers in District 11 responded to 373 Centre Street at 2:32pm yesterday on a report of a fight. They spoke with a juvenile male who told them that a male came to his door and threatened to beat him up. As the suspect attempted to enter the apartment and make good his threat, a friend’s pit bull bit the would-be attacker on the lower part of his body. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. The dog’s owner was not present at the time and an Animal Control officer took the dog into custody.
Drugs, Gun Recovered in Mattapan
Members of the Drug Control Unit executed a search warrant at 26 Nelson Street at 7:38pm on Friday, 04/21/06. The warrant was issued after an investigation into the sale of narcotics was done at that address. Officers recovered a .357 Magnum handgun, and approximately 10 grams of crack cocaine. Arrested was 32-year-old Clark Jean-Louis. He is charged with the illegal possession of the gun and various drug charges.
