Bank Robber Arrested in South EndOfficers assigned to District 4 responded to the Citizen’s Bank at 1355 Washington Street on a report of a bank robbery yesterday afternoon at 2:34pm. Officers spoke with a witness who stated the suspect entered the bank, passed a note, took an undisclosed amount of U.S. Currency and fled out the bank and entered a taxi. While in the taxi, the dye pack exploded. The suspect discarded the bag and fled the area on foot. A second witness began following the suspect as he attempted to flee the area. This witness eventually notified an officer and the suspect was taken into custody. Police arrested Jose Ortiz, 47, of South Boston. The stolen money was recovered.
Two Arrested at Commonwealth Avenue Party
This morning at about 1:50am, officers from District 14 responded to 1130 Commonwealth Avenue on a report of a loud party. When the officers arrived at that location, they could hear loud music coming from an apartment inside the building. The uncooperative and incoherent hosts of the party were arrested after a brief struggle with the officers. Zachary Roth, 21 and Jason Wishengrad, 22, both of Allston were arrested for Disturbing the Peace and will be arraigned this morning in the Brighton District Court.
Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested in Hyde Park
Along with a Massachusetts State Trooper, officers from District 18 responded to a radio call for a person with a gun at Neponset and Hyde Park Avenues last night at 9:12pm. According to the 34-year-old victim he was walking when two black males, one armed with a firearm, approached him from behind and attempted to rob him. Both suspect fled the area on foot. The officers notified operations and provided a description of the suspect. Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force observed a suspect fitting the description of the individual wanted at Florian and Folsom Streets. The victim was able to positively identify this suspect as the one with the firearm. Police arrested Jovonne Corn, 17, of Dorchester and charged him with Attempted Armed Robbery and Illegal Possession of a Firearm. The second suspect remains at large as well as the firearm that was used in the crime.
Not Very Smart Drinking Alcohol in Public While Armed with a Gun
Last night about 12:18am, officers while on patrol observed a group of man standing on the sidewalk with open containers of beer at Bowdoin St and Levant St. While officers were attempting to speak with the group, one young man placed his hands in his waistband turned and took flight with gun in hand. The suspect Malikkquann Wilson, 21 years old of Jamaica Plain was apprehended after a brief foot chase. Three other suspects Wayne Wilson, 26 years old of Dorchester, Johnathan Santos, 18 years olds of Dorchester and Scotty Santos, 24 years old of Dorchester were also arrested.
Car Jacking on Torrey St
This morning about 3:38am, officers responded to a radio call for a Car Jacking on Torrey St. Officers, spoke with victim, who stated he went to his vehicle to retrieve items from the trunk. At that time an unknown male approached him from behind and struck him in the head with a bat. The suspect requested the keys and made good his escape with the victim’s car.
