Traffic Violation Results in Gun/Drug ArrestsOfficers on patrol yesterday around 5:30pm in Dorchester noticed a vehicle operating erratically, passing numerous vehicles into oncoming traffic. The officers activated their lights and pulled the car over at 19 Fenelon Street next to a basketball court. The officers seized a firearm from the passenger, Jamaine Howell, 21, of Dorchester, who did not have a license to carry the firearm. After searching the vehicle, officers seized a bag of marijuana. The driver of the vehicle, Douglas Furr, 25, of Dorchester, was arrested for Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs and Possession along with various motor vehicle citations. Howell was arrested and charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm, Altered Serial Numbers and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class D Drugs Within 100 Feet Playground.
Convicted Criminal Arrested After Fleeing Drug Deal
While on patrol on Ruggles Street last night at approximately 7:45pm, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force observed three males on a church property, making an assumed drug deal. When officers attempted to conduct a threshold inquiry, one of the individuals fled the scene. Officers apprehended the suspect, Duwan Jackson, a 23-year-old South Boston resident, and found the suspect obtaining crack cocaine. After searching the area, the officers also recovered a firearm that the suspect had gotten rid of prior to his arrest. He was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B Drugs.
Juvenile Stabbed While Exiting Bus
A 16-year-old boy from Jamaica Plain was exiting an MBTA bus last night around 7:50pm when an unknown man confronted and stabbed him. Officers responded to the radio call on Hyde Park Avenue and the victim was transported to Boston Medical Center for treatment. The suspect was reportedly wearing an orange bandana, blue hooded sweatshirt and jeans. Officers searched the area and questioned local business owners and residents, but to no avail.
Store 24 Robbed
Early this morning at 2:35am, officers responded to the Store 24 at 281 Huntington Avenue for an alarm. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the store clerk who stated an unknown black male robbed him after making a weapon visible and demanding the clerk to give him his money. The suspect, who was wearing a gray sweatshirt, dark jeans and a brown tweed hat, fled the scene. The area was searched but to no avail. The incident remains under investigation.
