Victim of Baseball Bat Assault Succumbs to Injuries

On Sunday March 12 at 2:16am, Boston Police officers responded to 2 Wigglesworth Street for an assault. Officers located a male victim laying face down in the hallway entrance of the building suffering from severe head injuries. The victim was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital and a second man, 39-year-old John Conley was arrested at the scene. According to Conley, he and the victim had an argument during which the victim came at him wielding a nail gun. During the argument Conley then struck the victim more than once in the head with an aluminum baseball bat, which officers recovered. Both men reside in different apartments at this building.The victim of this assault succumbed to his injuries today at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He has been identified as 31-year-old Frederick Montgomery. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. Conley is currently being held on $500,000 bail in connection with the attack. If the manner of death is determined to be homicide, additional charges against Conley are likely.
