Update to Mass Ave and Magazine Street Shooting

Yesterday morning at 1:18am, officers from District 6 responded to a radio call for shots fired at 1010 Massachusetts Avenue. On arrival, the officers spoke with a witness who stated that three motor vehicles were traveling on Massachusetts Avenue toward Melnea Cass Boulevard with occupants screaming out the windows at each other. While stopped at a red light on Magazine Street and Massachusetts Avenue, a suspect exited one of the vehicles and approached one of the other vehicles while yelling at the occupants. The witness stated that he then heard multiple shots fired and all three vehicles fled the scene. While officers were on scene where ballistic evidence had been recovered, they were advised that two people had been transported to the Boston Medical Center suffering from gunshot wounds. Treated at the hospital was a 19-year-old male from Roxbury who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the face and a 19 year-old male from Roslindale was treated for a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Both injuries are considered non-life threatening.New Information:
Descriptions of the fleeing vehicles were broadcast over police radios. Responding officers from the Youth Violence Strike Force and members of the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit stopped a vehicle at 57 Blue Hill Avenue around 1:24am, matching the description of one of the cars seen leaving the area of the shooting. The operator of the vehicle, 24-year-old Keon Jones, was found to be in possession of a loaded .25 caliber silver handgun. He was not licensed to carry the gun and was arrested. Passengers inside the car were questioned and released. This investigation is ongoing.
