Police Arrest One Suspect in Allston Homicides

Boston Police Homicide Detectives, members of the BPD Drug Control Unit, BPD Youth Violence Strike Force and Cambridge Police Department arrested Craig Smith, 37, of Cambridge on four straight warrants issued by the Brighton District Court. The warrants stemmed from an incident on January 8, 2006 where officers from District 14 responded to a double homicide at 244 Kelton Street in Allston. The charges Smith will face are: two counts of Murder, Assault with Intent to Murder, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. The arrest occurred in Cambridge this morning.Today’s arrest of Craig Smith will not bring this homicide investigation to an end. The Boston Police Homicide Unit’s investigation into this double homicide in Allston has indicated that more than one suspect was involved in this case. The Homicide investigators continue to process information and leads that have been received in this case and continue their investigation.
Craig Smith will be arraigned in the Brighton Division of the Boston Municipal Court this afternoon. No photo of the suspect will be released.
