Early this morning at approximately 12:30am, police responded to a radio call at 464 Metropolitan Avenue in District 18 for a person screaming. When the officers arrived, they observed the victim slumped over a fence with cuts on his face. He told the police that he was leaving his friend’s home when two unknown men in masks ran up the stairs and jumped him. The victim stated that he jumped off a second floor porch to get away from the suspects, resulting in a broken leg. Witnesses to the incident reported that the two suspects were walking up Collin Street carrying two large garbage bags before getting into a car and fleeing in an unknown direction. When officers examined the crime scene, they noticed six 50-gallon drums, one containing a large bag of marijuana. They also observed scuff marks throughout the apartment and traces of blood on the window that the victim jumped out of. The crime scene was secured and EMS arrived to treat the victim before transporting him to a local hospital for further treatment.Detectives from District 18 secured the apartment and applied for a search warrant. A search warrant was obtained and the officers recovered two shotguns, over $20,000 in cash, and a large quantity of drugs. The investigation into this incident continues.
