If the Shoe Fits…..Jose Martinez, 30, of Boston entered the Macy’s Department Store yesterday and started a shopping spree that lead to his arrest. He entered the Men’s store and concealed a wallet and sunglasses. He proceeded to the Shoe Department where he tried on a pair of shoes, walked around in them and when the sales clerk turned it’s back he left that area, leaving his old shoes. Martinez then selected a jacket, jeans and shirt went to the men’s room and concealed these items on his body. The suspect then ended his shopping spree by leaving the store without paying for any of the merchandise. He was arrested outside the store and will be arraigned in the Boston Municipal Court for Larceny over $250.
Sex Offender Arrested in Mattapan
Officers from District 3 arrested Horace Chambers, 62, of Mattapan yesterday at Canaan Street and Itasca Street for failing to Register as a Sex Offender. He will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
Roslindale Woman Threatened at Laundromat
Yesterday afternoon at approximately 3:30pm, police responded to a radio call for threat at The Big Spin Laundromat at 4264 Washington St. in Roslindale. The victim reported that she was doing her laundry when an unknown Hispanic male about 35 years old approached her and told her to give him all her money. He threatened to shoot her if she didn’t oblige, and had his hand in his coat pocket as if he was carrying a gun. The victim refused and left the Laundromat unharmed. Police searched the area but weren’t able to find any suspects. The incident is still under investigation.
Broken Taillight Leads to Gun Arrest
Officers from District 2 were traveling on Ceylon Street last night around 8:30pm when they noticed a car with a broken rear taillight. When the officers pulled the vehicle over, they noticed the man acting nervous and grabbing at his waist. The officers asked him to step out of the car and conducted a pat frisk. The suspect, Paulo Barros, 21, of Dorchester, was carrying a loaded firearm without license to do so. After his arrest, officers also seized marijuana and ammunition from the suspect’s vehicle.
Man Arrested for Being a No-Show in Court
Last night at 9:45pm, officers from District 11 arrested James Phillips, 40, of Roxbury at 25 Stuart Street for his failure to appear in court. The suspect was to appear at the Dorchester Court for a myriad of charges, including Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Unlawful Carrying a Firearm, Larceny of a Motor Vehicle and two counts of Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
Three Men Resist Arrest after Club Fight
Officers from District 1 observed a victim lying motionless on the ground with numerous cuts and bruises this morning at State and Broad Streets. Security from the club nearby pointed out the two suspects who had been kicking and stomping the victim. While the suspects were being arrested, they resisted and drew a large crowd from nearby. A third suspect tried to interfere with the arrests and wanted the crowd to turn against the officers. After dispersing the crowd, all three men, Larry Allen, 24, of Dorchester, Demone Coleman, 28, of Dorchester, and Demetrius Ennis, 24 of Boston, were arrested. The victim was treated on scene by EMS and was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
West Dedham and Tremont Streets Shooting
Early this morning at 2:30am, officers from District 4 responded to a radio call for a person shot at West Dedham and Tremont Streets. The victim was walking on Tremont Street when he was shot in the leg. He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated. The victim’s injuries are considered non-life threatening.
