Juvenile Arrested with Firearm in Downtown CrossingYesterday afternoon a suspect was observed by store detectives on a closed circuit TV dropping a firearm inside the TJMaxx Department store on Washington Street. The suspect exited the store with store employees following him and calling Boston 9-1-1 providing an operator a description of the suspect and the direction he was traveling. An officer assigned to District 1 working in the downtown crossing area observed the suspect at about 426 Washington Street. The 15-year-old male from Lynn was patted down when the officer discovered a firearm in his pocket. The juvenile was arrested. Further investigation revealed the gun was a BB gun.
Elderly Male Assaults Victims With Bad Language and Hot Coffee
An officer working a paid detail at the Bayside Expo, 200 Mt. Vernon Street was notified that an elderly male assaulted a victim with a cup of coffee. According to the victim who was working the concession stand, an elderly male began yelling obscenities at the workers demanding a cup of coffee. When he received the coffee, he left without paying. The victim confronted the suspect and asked for payment when the suspect threw the coffee at the stand and the hot beverage splashed on the victims face. The victim refused medical attention while the suspect fled the area.
Brighton Man Falls Victim to Larceny by Scheme
At 1:30pm on Saturday, an officer assigned to District 14 responded to an address in Brighton and spoke with a 51 year-old male who reported to the officer that he was a victim of a scheme. The victim reports that he responded to an ad in a local newspaper to star in an adult entertainment movie. When he called the number, the person on the phone informed him he could star in his own movie and profit from it. The victim wired the production company $5,000 and has not heard from the company since. Detectives are investigating the incident.
60-Year-Old Arrested on Drug Charges in Dorchester
Two officers assigned to the anti-crime unit in District 3 observed and individual, known to them, walking on Aspinwall and Washington Streets in Dorchester. The officers attempted to conduct a threshold inquiry when they observed the suspect place a plastic bag of drugs into his mouth. Further investigation revealed the suspect was in possession of heroin and various pills. The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with: Distribution of Class A, within 1000’ of a School Zone; Possession with intent to Distribute Class A; Possession with intent to Distribute Class E, within 1000’ of a School Zone; Possession with intent to Distribute Class E; Possession of Class A; and Possession of Class E. He will be arraigned in the Dorchester District Court on Monday morning.
FN Herstal 5.7X28 Millimeter Handgun Recovered
Last night at 11:30pm, members of the Special Investigations Unit, Youth Violence Strike Force and Detectives from District 11 responded to an address in Dorchester and recovered one FN Herstal 5.7X28 millimeter semi-automatic handgun. The firearm was found loaded with 5.7X28 millimeter ammunition. The firearm was forwarded to the Ballistic Unit and the investigation continues.
Armed Suspect Attempts to Rob Dorchester Store
Officers assigned to District 11 responded to a radio call last night at about 9:47pm on a report of a panic alarm at 1760 Dorchester Avenue. The officers spoke with the victims who stated that the suspect entered the store and pointed a firearm at the chest of the person working the cash register. The victim then grabbed a milk crate and started threatening the suspect with it. The suspect fled out the door down Lonsdale Street toward Florida Street. A Patrol Officer from District 11 observed a suspect matching the description in the area shortly after the incident. The officer questioned the suspect and recovered a firearm from his waist area and a black mask from his pocket. Further investigation revealed the gun was a BB gun. The suspect, Junior Lubin, 25, of Dorchester was placed under arrest and transported to District 11. He will be arraigned Monday morning and charged with Assault by Means of a Dangerous Weapon.
Two Suspects Rob Victim on Norfolk Street
Officers from District 3 were responding to a call for a person with a gun last night at 11:28pm on Norfolk Street when they were approached by a victim who stated he was just robbed at gunpoint by two black males. The males robbed the victim of his cell phone and wallet and fled in a red Pontiac. The victim provided officers with a partial Massachusetts plate. Officers assigned to the anti-crime unit observed the suspect vehicle traveling on Washington Street toward Codman Square. Officers followed the vehicle and when it stopped, they approached the car, observed two individuals and attempted to speak with the occupants of the car. When they observed the officers, the driver screeched the cars tires and fled from the officers. The vehicle finally came to a stop at 8 Roseland Street where both suspects fled on foot. After a lengthy foot chase, officers from District 3 and 11 eventually arrested both suspects. Arrested were: Lance Holloman, 19, of Warner Robins, GA; and Anthony Hamilton, 19, of Dorchester. Hamilton is charged with: Armed Robbery, Assault by means of a Dangerous Weapon, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Holloman is charged with Armed Robbery, Resisting Arrest, Driving to Endanger, Operating a Motor Vehicle without a License, and Failing to Stop for a Police Officer. Both will be arraigned in Dorchester Court. The victim’s wallet was recovered in the vehicle.
South Boston Store Robbed
This morning at about 6:40am, officers from District 6 responded to the Cumberland Farms at L Street and East 5th Street on a report of an armed robbery. According to witnesses, the suspect entered the store with a butcher knife and pushed a victim to the floor and demanded money. The suspect emptied the cash register and demanded money from the safe. The victim and witness stated they did not have the combination to the safe. The suspect then demanded a carton of cigarettes and fled from the store. The victim’s were not injured, the robbery remains under investigation.
Suspect Arrested with Marijuana and a Loaded Firearm in Roxbury
Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force observed an individual walking on Dudley and Burrell Streets last night at 9:50pm with a lighter and marijuana type cigarette in his hand. The officers stopped the suspect to conduct a threshold inquiry. While conducting a pat frisk, officers discovered a loaded firearm on the suspect. After a violent struggle, officers arrested Manuel Montrond, 25, of Dorchester. He will be arraigned in Roxbury Court and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, and Possession of Class D.
