Suspect Arrested After Nazing Court Shooting

Last night at 7:36pm, officers assigned to District 2 responded to a report of a person shot at 1 Nazing Court in Roxbury. The 36-year-old victim was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the chest and leg. He was transported to the Boston Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition. The officers established a crime scene and with the assistance of witnesses broadcasted a description of the suspect. Two officers assigned to the District 2 anti-crime unit observed and stopped an individual matching the description of the suspect on Blue Hill Avenue. This person was found to have an active warrant from Lynn District Court and to be in possession of Crack Cocaine. The officers arrested Carlton Richardson, 38, of Roxbury and transported him to District 2.Officers on the scene of the shooting continued a search of the area for the firearm and any ballistic evidence while Detectives from District 2 continued interviewing witnesses. After and extensive investigation, Detectives charged Richardson with the shooting. He will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on Tuesday morning and charged with: armed assault with intent to murder, ABDW to wit firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, possession of Class B and attempted armed robbery. The warrants in Lynn were for larceny of a motor vehicle and destruction of personal property.
