Boston Police Investigate Shooting Death

At 0342hrs this morning, Boston Police Officers from District 3 in Mattapan responded to a 911 call at 815 Morton Street. While investigating an alleged domestic violence incident, some police officers on scene were interviewing the victim inside of 815 Morton Street while other police officers approached and verbally communicated with a suspect outside of that address. Preliminary information reveals that as the officers approached, the male shot himself.Boston E.M.S. transported the suspect to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Three Boston Police Officers were also treated at area hospitals for stress related injuries.
The investigation at this point reveals that none of the police officers discharged their weapons during this incident. A handgun was recovered from the suspect. The circumstances of this incident remain the subject of an active death investigation.
