Kidnapped Mother and Child Home SafeAbout 5:45pm last evening, officers from District 2 responded to 49 Cheney Street, Roxbury for a possible armed home invasion. The Boston Police Entry Team responded and entry was made into the home. No occupants were located, however officers made several observations such as: lit candles, televisions left on, a bathtub full of warm water and a telephone unplugged from the wall. The Boston Police Crime Scene Response Unit responded and processed the scene. Investigators learned that three Hispanic males armed with a handgun removed a 46-year-old mother and her 8-year-old son from the apartment. The suspects made contact with a family member numerous times demanding money in exchange for the safe return of both victims. All on–duty members of the Citywide Drug Control Unit and Youth Violence Strike Force were activated and an intensive police response was commenced . At about 12:05am, both victims were dropped off and went to a friend’s apartment to notify police. Detectives continue to process information and are actively investigating this incident. No arrests have been made at this time. Neither victim reported any injuries.
2 Guns, Ammo, and Drugs Recovered in Jamaica Plain
Officers of the District 13 Drug Control Unit executed a search warrant at 82 Brookley Road at 8:39pm last night. Recovered during the search were: a .45 caliber handgun, a .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun, 234 rounds of assorted ammunition, two BB guns, a bullet proof vest, large amounts of Marijuana and related drug paraphernalia used for the packaging and sale of drugs. Arrested in connection with the seizure were 26-year-old James Patterson of Roxbury and 24-year-old Corey Myers of Jamaica Plain. Both will be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on Monday January 30th.
Gun Recovered, One Arrested after Foot Chase
Officers from District 2 responded to 203 Blue Hill Avenue around 1:13am this morning to break up a large crowd fighting outside Connors Tavern. The actions of one individual caught the attention of plainclothes police officers that were on scene to assist with dispersing the large crowd. Officers attempted to stop the individual and a foot chase ensued ending with the capture of 27-year-old Maurice Murphy of Dorchester. A loaded 9mm firearm was recovered from the scene. Murphy will be arraigned on Monday in Roxbury District Court.
Three Arrested for Dorchester Home Invasion
Officers from District 11 observed two individuals dressed in black, one wearing a mask, the other wearing a black hood and gloves, running from 21 Adams Street and enter a waiting BMW being driven by a black female at 2:07am this morning. Based on these observations, officers stopped the BMW and ordered the occupants from the vehicle. As the investigation proceeded, occupants of the Adams Street residence approached the officers and informed them that the two males, one armed with a knife, had just broke into the house and stole money. Officers recovered a large amount of US currency from under the passenger side of the BMW and a knife from inside the car. Arrested in connection with this home invasion were: 21-year-old Marques Dorvilmar of Mattapan, 21-year-old Jason Glenn of Dedham and 21-year-old Chain Edwards of Roxbury. All three will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on Monday.
