At 8:43pm last night, officers from District 11 responded to 100 North Point Drive, Harbor Point to meet the victim of an Assault. The victim told the officers that while driving on Day Boulevard he was involved in a near collision with a blue pick-up truck. The driver of the truck began yelling at the victim and followed him to the Harbor Point Development. According to the victim, the suspect then pointed a 3 foot black rifle at him and pulled the trigger. No round was discharged. The suspect then fled the scene. A description was broadcast and officers along with State Police were able to locate the pick-up outside of 154 L Street in South Boston. The owner of the vehicle, 41-year-old John Donoghue of South Boston was located and questioned at the L Street location, in connection with the incident. He was positively identified and placed under arrest. Officers seized Donoghue’s license to carry along with ten firearms from inside the residence. One of which was a 3-foot black rifle, the others, all handguns.Under Massachusetts’ law and Boston Police Rules, Donoghue’s license to carry has been forwarded to the Licensing Unit for review. The seized guns will remain in police custody pending the outcome of the case and returned only with the permission of the Police Commissioner. If Donoghue’s License to carry is ultimately revoked, the seized weapons will remain in police custody for destruction. Arraignment is set for Monday morning in Dorchester District Court.
