Youth Violence Strike Force Recovered a Loaded Firearm Following a Traffic Stop

On Monday, August 4, 2025, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Dashaun James, 19, of Dorchester, for firearm related offenses.

About 8:25 PM, officers were on patrol in the area of Page Street and Glenway Street when they observed a vehicle fail to stop for the stop sign. Officers made contact with the occupants of the vehicle, and observed an empty fanny pack-style bag at the feet of the front passenger. After further investigation, both the operator and front seat passenger were requested to exit the vehicle. The operator complied with officers, while the passenger refused to exit.

The passenger refused to remove his seat belt, and ignored officers’ commands to exit the vehicle. Officers were able to unbuckle the suspect’s seat belt and removed him from the car. As they attempted to conduct a pat frisk, the suspect began to resist by flailing his arms.

The suspect was placed into handcuffs and a firearm was recovered from his right pants pocket. The firearm was determined to be a Armi Giuseppe Tanfoglio GT27 with one round in the chamber and three rounds in the magazine.

James was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the following offenses:

–          Carrying a Firearm without a License

–          Unlawful Possession of Ammunition

–          Carrying a Loaded Firearm
