Drug Control Units from Mattapan and Hyde Park Arrested Suspect for Drug Trafficking

At about 12:30 PM, on Thursday, May 1, 2025, officers assigned to the Drug Control Unit of District B-3 (Mattapan) and District E-18 (Hyde Park) arrested Franklin Mejia Martinez, 26, of Boston, for drug trafficking.

The Mattapan Drug Control Unit was on patrol in the area of Fairway Street when they observed a known individual using a cellphone and visually scanning the area. Surveillance was conducted on the individual and observed him approach the passenger side window of a motor vehicle.

The individual reached into the vehicle, and then traveled towards Cummins Highway. The vehicle exited the area and began driving in the direction of Woodhaven Street. Drug Control Units began to follow the involved motor vehicle and observed it stop at an address in Hyde Park. A female individual entered the vehicle, and ten minutes later, she exited the vehicle. The vehicle now left the area and parked near Forest Hills Street, Jamaica Plain. Another female entered the vehicle, and exited within a fifteen-minute span.

Units were able to maintain surveillance on the vehicle, and observed it now stopped in the area of Dorchester Avenue and Fuller Street, Dorchester. The operator exited the vehicle and entered a building for approximately ten minutes before returning. The vehicle now began to travel into Quincy and continued the same behavior. An unknown female entered the vehicle, and exited within a five-minute span. The vehicle then began traveling back towards Boston and stopped in the area of Millet Street and Wheatland Avenue.

The operator, once again exited the vehicle, and entered the building. The operator only stayed inside the building for about fifteen minutes before leaving the area. At this time, responding units were requested for assistance with conducting a traffic stop. The vehicle was stopped in the area of Norfolk Street and Woolson Street, and the operator was immediately placed into handcuffs.

A search of the suspect revealed ten plastic bags of heroin, fourteen plastic bags of crack cocaine, and five plastic bags of cocaine. The drugs were later weighed and determined to be 20.5 grams of heroin, 14.2 grams of crack cocaine, and 5.1 grams of cocaine. A total of $1,039 in U.S. currency was also recovered.

Mejia Martinez was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the following charges:

  • Trafficking of Class A
  • Trafficking of Class B
