At about 7:40 PM, on Sunday, August 11, 2024, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Domingos Lopes, 27, of Dorchester, on firearm charges.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and Glenway Street when they observed a motor vehicle with excessive window tint. Officers activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop.
Officers observed the vehicle come to an abrupt stop and attempt to find the nearest parking spot. The vehicle continued to move back and forth in attempts to park the vehicle properly. Officers made contact with the occupants and requested their identifications.
The operator was unable to provide an active driver’s license, and the occupants were requested to exit the vehicle. After further investigation, officers recovered a firearm which was later determined to be a Glock 43 with seven rounds in the magazine.
Lopes was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
