At about 11:24 AM, on December 20, 2023, officers assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit of District B-3 (Mattapan) made an onsite firearm arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile male.
Officers were conducting a firearm investigation in the area of 505 Washington Street. Officers were advised that a juvenile suspect was in possession of a firearm. Officers observed the suspect, and exited their cruiser to speak with him. Upon seeing the officers, the suspect immediately fled on foot.
An officer inside of Dorchester District Court, observed the suspect flee from officers, and gave chase. Officers observed the suspect to have a firearm in his hand, and officers gave multiple verbal commands for the suspect to stop and drop the firearm. The suspect continued to run from officers, but was safely apprehended with the assistance of responding officers. The firearm that the suspect was holding was later determined to be a Ruger 9mm with one round in the chamber, and 15 rounds in the magazine.
The 17-year-old juvenile male was placed under arrest and charged with: Unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, defacement of a firearm serial number and trespassing. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
