Investigation Update: Arrest Made in Connection to the 2021 Tremont Street Homicide

At about 5:00 PM, on Monday, December 11, 2023, members of the Fugitive Unit arrested Zykaris Hamilton, 19, of Mattapan, in the area of 450 Canterbury Street. At the time of the arrest, the suspect was wanted on warrants for murder and unlawful possession of a firearm issued out of Suffolk Superior Court for the death of Fermin Baez, 32, of Dorchester. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court.

The facts and circumstances surrounding the original incident are as follows: At about 8:47 PM, on Monday, June 7, 2021, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) responded to the area of 1510 Tremont Street for a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries, and was later pronounced deceased. The victim has since been identified as Fermin Baez, 32, of Dorchester.
