While traveling on Washington Street, officers’ attention was drawn to an individual walking away from a motor vehicle and into a store in the area of 156 Washington Street. Officers conducted a query of the vehicle and learned that the operator’s license had been suspended. Officers observed the operator exit the store, enter the vehicle without turning it on, exit the vehicle, and walk back to the front of the store. The operator did this several times without re-entering the store.

Officers approached the vehicle and notified the operator of the reason as to why he was being stopped. As the operator exited the vehicle, officers observed both the gear shift box and the radio to have been tampered with, creating a void within the vehicle. Officers further observed the handle of a firearm within the radio casing. The operator was taken into custody.

The firearm was determined to be a Glock 19 Gen 5 9mm handgun loaded with eleven rounds of live ammunition.

Delacruz is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, Receiving Stolen Property, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License.
