At about 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, officers assigned to District 1 (Downtown) conducted Operation Kickstand, a targeted scooter, moped, and motorcycle enforcement initiative throughout Downtown.
This initiative was undertaken in response to continuing public safety and quality-of-life concerns associated with the increased presence and unlawful operation of scooters and mopeds within the district.
Throughout the initiative, officers towed nine (9) mopeds and motorcycles, issued twelve (12) citations, issued one (1) parking violation, made one (1) arrest for violations of the auto laws, and issued seven (7) criminal summonses.
The Boston Police Department remains committed to improving traffic safety and will continue to conduct enforcement operations across the city.
