At about 4:20 PM on Saturday, August 29, 2026, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) conducted a stop at the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Glenway Street, which resulted in the arrest of Kanell Hogan, 20-years-old, of Boston, for multiple firearm-related offenses.
Officers were on patrol the area of Blue Hill Avenue from Wales Street to Geneva Avenue when their attention was drawn to Kanell Hogan, who was wearing a distinct black and gray camo mask, a large flag draped around his back, and a fanny pack underneath the flag.
After further observation, officers decided to approach Hogan and engage him in conversation. Upon approach, Hogan bladed his body away from officers and took a step to his left, in the opposite direction of the officers, as they spoke. As officers continued their observations, they conducted a pat-frisk and felt an L-shaped object inside Hogan’s fanny pack. Upon further investigation, officers opened Hogan’s fanny pack and observed the handle of a firearm. Hogan was taken into custody.
The firearm was determined to be a Glock 27 .40 caliber loaded with fourteen rounds of live ammunition.
Kanell Hogan is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on the following charges:
- Carrying a Firearm Without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
- Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
- Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
