Downtown Enforcement Initiative Targets Unlawful Scooter and Moped Operation

At about 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) and the Auto Theft Unit conducted targeted scooter, moped, and motorcycle enforcement initiatives throughout the Downtown Boston area. This initiative was undertaken in response to continuing public safety and quality-of-life concerns associated with the increased presence and unlawful operation of scooters and mopeds within the district.

Throughout the operation, officers towed seven (7) mopeds, issued ten (10) motor vehicle citations, issued eight (8) criminal summonses, and made one (1) arrest on an outstanding warrant. 

The Boston Police Department remains committed to improving traffic safety and will continue to conduct enforcement operations across the city.
