At about 8:49 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the arrest of Raequan Patterson, 29, of Roxbury, on multiple firearm-related violations.
Officers were on patrol in the area of Downtown Crossing when they observed a red moped traveling down Washington Street from Bromfield Street to Summer Street, which is a one-way street and a designated pedestrian traffic-only area. Officers also observed two individuals on the moped, neither of whom was wearing a helmet.
Officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Washington Street and Summer Street. Upon approaching the moped, officers requested the operator’s license and registration. The operator, identified as Raequan Patterson, 29, was only able to produce a temporary Massachusetts ID card and a bill of sale.
Officers then asked Patterson to dismount the moped, to which he complied. Officers conducted a pat-frisk of Patterson. When officers attempted to pat-frisk the satchel Patterson was wearing, Patterson immediately stepped back from the officers. Officers regained control of Patterson and felt an L-shaped object inside the satchel. Officers recovered a black firearm equipped with an extended magazine from Patterson.
District Detectives arrived on the scene and began processing the firearm. The firearm was determined to be a Polymer80 PF940C lower receiver with no serial number, attached to a slide of an unknown make or model. The firearm was loaded with a total of thirty-four (34) 9mm rounds, including one (1) round in the chamber.
Raequan Patterson is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on the following charges:
- Carrying a Firearm Without a License
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
- Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
- Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm
- Possession of a Covert or Undetectable Firearm
Raequan Patterson was also issued citations for:
- Motor Vehicle Operation in an Area Closed for Travel
- Improper Operation of a Motor Vehicle
