At approximately 11:43 PM, on Sunday, August 16, 2026, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an on-site arrest of Tavarys Bullock and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of Blue Hill Avenue and McLellan Street in Dorchester.
While on patrol due to the increasingly large groups of individuals congregating after the conclusion of the Dominican Festival, officers’ attention was drawn to a male who was grabbing his waistband as officers were trying to disperse the crowd and clear the road. Officers continued to watch the male, who appeared to be scanning the crowd looking for someone. Upon seeing the officers, the suspect fled on foot down McLellan Street. Officers pursued the suspect and observed him reach into his waistband and throw a firearm with his left hand over a fence on McLellan Street. Officers caught up to the suspect who was taken into custody. The firearm was recovered on the opposite side of the fence on the property of the Berea Academy School.
The untraceable firearm was determined to be a 9mm loaded with fourteen rounds of live ammunition.
Officers arrested Tavarys Bullock, 21-years-old, of Fall River. Bullock is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Receiving an Untraceable Firearm.
