At approximately 11:08 PM on Sunday, August 17, 2026, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) made an on-site arrest of Tu-merrick Joseph Brown and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of 8 Michigan Avenue in Dorchester.
While on patrol, officers observed the aforementioned suspect within a large group in the area of Old Road and Michigan Avenue in Dorchester at the conclusion of the Dominican Festival. Officers attention was drawn to the male who they recognized from a previous incident which occurred on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in which the suspect crashed into multiple cars as well as a police cruiser upon seeing officers in the area of 48 Havelock Street in Dorchester. During this incident, officers recovered a loaded firearm underneath the driver’s seat, but the suspect was able to make good on his escape.
Officers, knowing the suspect had an outstanding warrant for the previous incident, attempted to approach the suspect who immediately fled in a full sprint down Michigan Avenue. Officers pursued the suspect on foot and were able to apprehend him in the rear of 8 Michigan Avenue. Officers recovered a firearm inside of the suspect’s pant leg.
The firearm was determined to be a Ruger GP100 357 Magnum handgun loaded with six rounds of live ammunition.
Officers arrested Tu-merrick Joseph Brown, 25-years-old, of Dorchester. Brown is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester Court on charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License Subsequent Offense, Carrying a Firearm without a License Subsequent Offense, Firearm Violation with a Prior Violent/ Drug Crime, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card Subsequent Offense.
Additionally, Brown had an outstanding warrant issued out of Dorchester District Court for Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.
During the booking process, officers discovered an additional warrant issued out of Plymouth Superior Court for charges of Aggravated Organized Retail Crime Serial Theft and two counts of Larceny Over $1200 by Single Scheme.
