At approximately 10:40 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2026, officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made an on-site arrest of a 17-year-old suspect and recovered a loaded firearm in the area of 62 Forest Street in Roxbury.
While on patrol in the area of Forest Street, officers observed a large group of individuals congregating in front of 62 Forest Street. Officers’ attention was drawn to an individual wearing a camouflage balaclava mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, and gray shorts, who began running away from the group upon seeing officers. Officers pursued the individual, who was now grabbing the front of his waistband, on foot. Officers chased the individual throughout the neighborhood before briefly losing sight of him in the rear of 339 Dudley Street. Officers caught up with the individual as he exited the rear of the aforementioned location, where he was detained. As officers canvassed the area and retraced the suspect’s flight path, they located a discarded firearm. The suspect was taken into custody.
The firearm was determined to be a .38 Llama Max-I 38 Super L/F handgun loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition.
The 17-year-old male suspect, of Somerville, is expected to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on charges of Delinquent to wit; Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Receiving an Untraceable Firearm, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card, and Trespassing.
