Felony Warrant Suspect Arrested for Third Firearm Related Offense in Jamaica Plain

At about 1:49 PM on Monday, July 13, 2026, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made an onsite arrest of Muhammad Yahya, 46-years-old, of Jamaica Plain in the area of 3090 Washington Street in Jamaica Plain.

Officers were aware that the suspect had an active warrant issued out of Roxbury District Court on charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card Subsequent Offense, Carrying a Firearm without a License Third Offense, Carrying a Firearm without a License, Firearm Violation with Prior Violent/ Drug Crime, Possession of Class B Drugs, and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Officers observed the suspect in the area of Atherton Street in Jamaica Plain. Officers observed the suspect break off from a group and walk towards Washington Street. Officers caught up to the suspect in the area of 3090 Washington Street where they notified him of the warrant and placed him under arrest. A search of the suspect led to the recovery of a firearm inside of his pants pocket.

The firearm was determined to be a Ruger .380 pistol loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition.

Yahya is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court on charges of Carrying a Loaded Firearm Third Offense, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Carrying a Firearm without a License, and Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card.
