On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 8:20 a.m., officers assigned to District A-1 responded to a radio call for a breaking and entering in progress at a residence located on Myrtle Street in Boston.
The initial 911 call reported that an unknown male had entered a residence and was inside the living room.
Upon arrival, officers knocked and announced at the front door. They were met by the resident, who informed officers that he was on the third floor of the home and that the suspect remained on the second floor. Officers proceeded upstairs, announcing their presence.
Officers heard sounds coming from the second-floor bathroom and observed the door was closed. Upon opening the door, officers found the suspect, later identified as Jainel Roman, 28, of Boston, seated on the toilet, unclothed. Officers detained Roman while they continued to investigate.
Officers spoke with the resident on the third floor, who reported that his children were also home at the time of the incident. The children, who were frightened by the situation, had remained upstairs and had no contact with the suspect.
The resident told officers he had woken around 8:00 a.m. and gone downstairs, where he discovered Roman on the couch, naked, and smoking what appeared to be a crack pipe. The resident immediately went back upstairs to secure his children and called 911.
Roman was transported to Nashua Street Jail for booking. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court for the following charges:
- Breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony, person in fear
- Vandalize property
- Lewdness, open and gross
