During the early morning hours of Monday, September 1, 2025, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested two individuals on firearm-related charges following a traffic stop at Woolson and Wildwood Streets in Mattapan. The suspects were identified as a 17-year-old male from the South End and 19-year-old Miguel Pleasants-Miranda of West Bridgewater, MA.
At approximately 2:00 AM, officers were patrolling the Norfolk Street and Woolson Street area in response to a shooting that had occurred there just hours earlier. While on patrol, they observed a vehicle with heavily tinted windows illegally parked and idling in a tow zone. Officers initiated a traffic stop and approached the vehicle, which contained four occupants including the driver, Miguel Pleasants-Miranda, and the 17-year-old juvenile in the rear passenger seat.
Upon approaching, officers noticed Miguel attempting to conceal an item near his waistband. Combined with the behavior of the passengers and a recent shooting in the area, this raised immediate concerns that the occupants may be armed. Officers issued exit orders to further investigate.
When directed to exit the vehicle, the juvenile suspect attempted to flee on foot. A violent struggle ensued as he resisted arrest, ignoring repeated verbal commands to stop resisting and place his hands behind his back. During the struggle, officers detected a firearm in his waistband, which fell to the ground before being secured by police. The suspect was eventually placed into custody after continued resistance. The firearm recovered from the juvenile was identified as a Taurus G2C 9mm semi-automatic pistol. It was loaded with one round in the chamber, ten rounds in the magazine, and had an obliterated serial number.
Following the juvenile’s arrest, officers continued their investigation. A search of the vehicle revealed a backpack containing personal items belonging to Miguel Pleasants-Miranda as well as a second firearm. Detectives from District B-3 responded and placed Miguel under arrest after further investigation. The recovered firearm was a Smith & Wesson M&P .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol equipped with a laser and flashlight. It was loaded with one round in the chamber and a magazine containing fifteen rounds.
The 17-year-old juvenile is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on the following charges:
- Delinquent to wit, unlawful possession of a firearm
- Delinquent to wit, unlawful possession of ammunition
- Delinquent to wit, carrying a loaded firearm
- Delinquent to wit, possession of a large-capacity firearm

Miguel Pleasants-Miranda is also expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for:
