On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, officers assigned to District C-11 (Dorchester) arrested a 13-year-old male from Dorchester following a motor vehicle crash involving a stolen moped near the intersection of Lyndhurst Street and Washington Street.
At approximately 8:00 AM, officers responded to a radio call for a motor vehicle accident at the above location. Upon arrival, they spoke with the operator of the vehicle involved in the crash. The victim reported that while turning from Lyndhurst Street onto Washington Street, the driver’s side door of his vehicle was struck by a moped. The victim declined medical attention; however, Boston EMS responded to evaluate an 11-month-old child who was inside the vehicle as a precaution. No injuries were reported.
The moped operator attempted to restart the vehicle but was unsuccessful and fled the scene on foot. Officers obtained photographs of the suspect during the incident and shared them with fellow officers. The suspect was quickly identified as a juvenile known to police, and a check confirmed he had an active warrant for his arrest. A query of the moped revealed it had been reported stolen.
Officers, familiar with the suspect, responded to his residence and located him walking home. He was taken into custody without incident.
The 13-year-old juvenile was arraigned in Dorchester District Court on the following charges:
- Warrant out of Suffolk Juvenile Court for Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle and Attempt to Commit a Crime
- Leaving the Scene of an Accident (Property Damage)
- Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Receiving a Stolen Motor Vehicle
