On Sunday, May 18, 2025, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) recovered four firearms and arrested three individuals on multiple firearm related offenses.
At about 5:00 PM, officers were conducting a directed patrol of Harambee Park. Officers were aware that a firearm arrest was made an hour prior which heighted their awareness. Officers immediately took notice of an individual adjusting an unknown object located in his mid-section. A second individual was seen conducting these same actions.
The group began to depart the park, and the two individuals now continuously looked over their shoulders at officers. One of the individuals separated from the group and proceeded to the rear of 240 Westview Street. The individual was seen sprinting from the area while holding an unknown object in his waistband. As officers were chasing the suspect, they observed the second individual now run on Stratton Street towards Lucerne Street.
Both suspects were able to evade arrest, and officers began to canvass the area for any discarded weapons. A firearm was recovered in the area of 51 Floyd Street and a second firearm was recovered at 90 Ames Way. The firearms were determined to be a Glock firearm 9mm with nine rounds in the magazine capable of holding ten total rounds. The second firearm was a Glock 45 with fifteen rounds in the magazine, and an obliterated serial number. The incident is under investigation by B-3 Detectives.
At about 6:08 PM, officers were entering the playground area from the field area when they observed approximately one hundred people sprinting away. As people were running, they advised officers that someone fired a gun.
An individual was immediately observed in the crowd to be walking with a bend at his waist and hunched as he walked. The individual was able to evade officers, but he was quickly spotted exiting the park towards Blue Hill Avenue. Officers followed the male party and were able to stop him in the area of 911 Blue Hill Avenue.
When officers attempted to conduct a pat frisk of the suspect, he immediately blocked his waistband area and tried to pull away. A firearm was recovered from the suspect’s waistband which was determined to be a Taurus GX4 with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine. As officers assisted the suspect into the cruiser for transport, he became combative and kicked an officer. The suspect was transported to District B-3 for a booking process to be completed.
The 16-year-old Juvenile Male was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the following offenses:
– Delinquent to Wit; Possession of a Firearm Without a License
– Delinquent to Wit; Carrying a Loaded Firearm
– Delinquent to Wit; Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
– Delinquent to Wit; Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, Shod Food
At about 7:09 PM, while just outside the entrance of Harambee Park, officers observed two separate groups of individuals yelling at one another. Officers were aware that a 16-year-old Juvenile Male was arrested an hour earlier with a firearm, who was also part of one of the groups.
Two of the individuals separated from one of the groups, and began to converse outside of the park. These two parties were seen earlier with the now arrested juvenile. Officers monitored the individuals and observed them take notice of their position. The parties began walking towards the Talbot Avenue entrance to avoid officers.
The two parties continued to walk towards Harvard Street and quickly took a turn into the rear of 39 and 43 Harvard Street. One the individuals walked back to the front of the address where he was met by officers. Officers were able to locate the second individual now walking on Vesta Road.
The suspect began to sprint from officers, but he was quickly apprehended. Officers conducted a pat frisk and recovered a firearm from the suspect’s backpack. The firearm was determined to be a Sig Saur with one round in the chamber and seven rounds in a magazine capable of holding seventeen total rounds.
A 17-year-old Juvenile Male was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the following charges:
- Delinquent to Wit; Carrying a Firearm Without a License
- Delinquent to Wit; Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
- Delinquent to Wit; Possession of Ammunition Without an FID Card
Olimpio Pires-Braun, 25, of Dorchester, was also arrested and will be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for Trespassing.
