On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Larmount Jones, 39, of East Boston, after a breaking and entering.
At about 2:58 PM, officers on a walking beat in Nubian Square responded to a radio call for a trespasser at 144 Dudley Street. Security for the building advised officers that an apartment should be vacant, but movement could be heard from inside.
Security stated to officers that the lock on the apartment door was not the same lock that was installed previously by management. Officers knocked on the door, and the suspect exited without stopping. Officers ordered the suspect to stop, but he continued to disobey their orders.
A foot pursuit ensued, and officers were able to stop the suspect in the area of 2360 Washington Street. The suspect refused to comply and a struggle ensued. With the assistance of responding units, the suspect was successfully handcuffed.
Units began to search the suspects flight path, and recovered a discarded backpack inside the second-floor hallway of the apartment. Officers recovered a screwdriver and wire cutters that were believed to be used to make entry into the locked apartment.
Jones was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following charges:
– Breaking and Entering for Misdemeanor
– Possession of Burglarious Instrument
– Trespass
– Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
