Youth Violence Strike Force Recovered a Firearm Following a Traffic Stop in Dorchester

At about 6:22 PM, on Friday, April 25, 2025, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Keysha Ortiz, 36, of Dorchester, on various firearm offenses.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Columbia Road and Massachusetts Avenue, when they observed a motor vehicle with registration plates belonging to a different vehicle. Officers began to follow the vehicle, and the suspects made various abrupt turns to avoid being stopped. Officers activated their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop in the area of 76 Glendale Street.

Officers observed the driver immediately exit the vehicle, and was quickly ordered back into the vehicle. Officers were able to make contact with both occupants, and requested their identifications. Officers determined that the operator had a suspended license, and the passenger had an active warrant for her arrest.

Officers requested both occupants to exit the vehicle as the vehicle needed to be towed. Officers searched the vehicle and located a firearm from inside. The firearm was later determined to be a Canik TP9 SF Lite with fifteen rounds in a high-capacity magazine.

Ortiz was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court for the following charges:

  • Unlawful Possession of a Firearm
  • Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License
  • Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
  • Firearm Violation with Three Prior Violent/Drug Crimes
  • Unregistered Motor Vehicle
  • Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle Subsequent Offense
  • Attaching Plates

Yuberkys Recci, 28, of Dorchester, was placed under arrest for a warrant issued out of New Bedford District Court for Leased, Failed to Return. She is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
