Boston Police Department Celebrates Telecommunicators Week: Meet Dispatcher Melinda Santos

The Boston Police Department is proud to be part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week 2025.

This week 9-1-1 Public Safety Telecommunicators who work in Emergency 9-1-1 Communication Centers across the country are recognized for the lifesaving work that they provide to millions of callers every year.

The men and women of the BPD Operations Division are those unsung heroes who are always there to answer the call.

They are the First, First Responders, who are the heartbeat of the BPD.

As part of National Public Safety Telecommunicators week, we introduce you to Dispatcher, Melinda Santos, who informs us about what her job entails, plus how you out in the community can help when calling 9-1-1.

Thank you to all the Telecommunicators for all the work you do day in and day out and a big thanks to our community for being our partner in keeping our City safe!
