On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, members of the Boston Police Department and Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested a 15-year-old male from Roxbury on firearm-related charges following a subject stop in the area of 95 Saint Alphonsus Street, Roxbury.
Officers and Troopers were conducting an intelligence-based directed patrol near Albert Street when they were approached by a male, later identified as the 15-year-old suspect. The individual engaged officers in conversation and was provided with directions to Ruggles MBTA Station. After the brief exchange, officers observed the suspect disregard the directions he had been given and instead proceed up the stairs toward Southwest Corridor Park and Prentiss Street, away from the station.
From their cruisers, Officers continued to monitor the suspect, who appeared to be observing them closely while unaware that an additional officer positioned nearby was also watching his movements. Based on his unusual behavior, Officers initiated an investigation and began following him.
The suspect walked through several streets before entering Saint Alphonsus Street, where Officers noted an increase in his vigilance and observed him clutching the front of his waistband. When he noticed law enforcement again, the suspect began walking at a faster pace.
Given the totality of the circumstances, Officers and Troopers believed the suspect might be armed and approached him. As a Trooper exited his cruiser and attempted to speak with the suspect, the suspect fled on foot, continuing to clutch his waistband. During the foot pursuit, Officers observed the suspect draw a white firearm from his waistband. Officers issued verbal commands, which the suspect complied with, placing the firearm on top of a nearby recycling barrel. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Detectives responded to the scene and recovered the firearm, which was determined to be a 9mm “ghost gun” equipped with a threaded barrel. The weapon was loaded with one round in the chamber and a magazine containing sixteen additional live rounds of ammunition.
The 15-year-old suspect was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court on the following charges:
- Delinquent to Wit: Carrying a Firearm Without a License
- Delinquent to Wit: Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License
- Delinquent to Wit: Unlawful Possession of Ammunition
- Delinquent to Wit: Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device
