At about 1:00 AM, on Monday, September 2nd, 2024, Officers assigned to District B-2 (Roxbury) arrested Lorenzo Beechman, 37, of Hyde Park, for firearm, drug, and motor vehicle offenses following a traffic stop conducted at 287 Washington St, Dorchester.
Officers were on patrol near 280 Washington St. when they observed a vehicle traveling inbound on Washington St. that had an expired vehicle registration. Officers activated their emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop.
As Officers approached the vehicle and identified the driver as Beechman, they investigated and removed him from the vehicle for several safety concerns. As the investigation continued Officers located a firearm located under the passenger side seats. When Officers attempted to place Beechman in custody, he pushed off from officers and attempted to flee on-foot. Officers engaged in a brief foot chase and apprehended Beechman outside of 287 Washington St.
During their investigation Officers also recovered a small plastic bag from the vehicle with a substance believed to be crack cocaine inside of it.
District B-2 Detectives responded and determined the firearm to be a Smith & Wesson Shield 9EZ 9MM, loaded with one round of ammunition in the chamber and eight rounds in a magazine.
Lorenzo Beechman was placed under arrest and is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the charges of Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Class B Substance, Resisting Arrest, and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle on a Public Way.
