At about 6:31 PM, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) took a walk-in report for a victim of a robbery in the area of 16 Estella Street. Officers were advised that the victim was delivering a package, when the suspect walked from behind and stole the package. The suspect stated he would smack the victim before fleeing the area in a motor vehicle.
Detectives conducted a follow up investigation and were able to obtain the registration of the suspected fleeing vehicle. Detectives were able to determine the location of the registered owner, and requested Boston Police Operations put out a Be On The LookOut (BOLO) for the suspect’s vehicle.
An officer working a paid detail observed the suspected motor vehicle in the area of 3371 Washington Street. The detail officer advised Operations of his observations and requested a marked cruiser to assist with a traffic stop.
Officers assigned to District E-13 (Jamaica Plain) conducted a traffic stop in the area of School Street and Walnut Street. Officers immediately placed the suspect into handcuffs, and advised B-3 Detectives that the suspect had been located. The vehicle was towed from the scene pending a search warrant.
Garvis Arias Lara, 28, of Roxbury, was placed under arrest and charged with Unarmed Robbery. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
